Pet Smart-ID & Online Booking

This system contains two main parts in the MVP stage, including Pet Smart-ID and Vet Online Booking. It was supposed to be an app at the early stage of the project, but after several meetings with engineers, we agreed on PWA. This project was part of a more extensive system connected from one side to a dashboard in veterinary and microchip injected in pet and another side to Radar company admin dashboard. It was a challenging and sophisticated project and would help the pet owners book an online appointment from the veterinarians, have an official ID for their pet, and keep track of their pet health.

User research

For this project, we first created a questionnaire to get acquainted with pet owners' demographic, then based on the insights, we conducted interviews in two stages in person and by phone on the booking online and pet smart ID and veterinary panel. We made empathy maps by sorting and separating people's talks, actions, emotions, and thoughts.

Persona

Nina is an art curator and artist who needs to book online from a veterinary for her two cats to save time and keep her cats healthy and happy.

Bahareh is a housewife who needs to inject a microchip to keep her dog safe and found it in case of getting lost.

Competitive analysis

Because there was no comprehensive product in the market for pets, we started to review direct and indirect competitors in online booking and pet idea and super-app which had PWA version.
We made several competitive audit reports and present them to the stakeholders and later in the ideation stage we get inspired by a different section of our competitor's product.

IA

The information architecture of this project had a certain complexity, and at each stage, we have to consider the relationship of each section with others.

User Flow

After creating the user flows based on user stories, we created a use-case diagram, and at this stage, the two were examined and analyzed together.

Style guide

We agreed to use the Google Material design system for several reasons: firstly, we could focus on the other part of our product design, and secondly, using Material would speed up the process of delivering design to engineers, and lastly, we would use Material glossary as a common language between designers and developers.

What I learned:

Pet radar was a complex project done for the first time in Iran on pets and does not have a similar product worldwide. In addition, we had many obstacles along the way until the initial release of the product to the market. we encountered many challenges in this project. - For example, scheduling for a veterinary clinic is very different from scheduling medical clinics and is searched mainly by location. The PET radar system is complex, with two admin panels, one on the veterinary side and the other on the radar side. The animal's online ID connects to both the radar system and the Vet admin, and these relationships were very challenging, and we had to make changes to the product in several steps. In this project, I came across systems that consist of admin panels and software, and its design was a very instructive challenge for me.

Next steps

Surveys

We will have different surveys at different stages to collect customer feedback to make sense of user behavior and gain insight into how people are experiencing our product. In other words, we will learn what works and what doesn't and prioritize changes to improve UX.

Interview users

As this product is new to the Iran market, one crucial step is to interview the users so we can develop the product based on user needs. We will put users in front and center of our future development.
